Light deprivation greenhouse tips New Mexico

New Mexico Specifics

How much flowering canopy can I grow in New Mexico?

An approved adult use cultivator in New Mexico is restricted by the number of plants they and grow, not the size of the flowering canopy as is the case in most other recreational states. The maximum amount of plants a license may grow is 8000

Can I use artificial lighting with my adult use cultivation license?

YYes, lights may be used in the vegetative growth stage with both licenses types. To limit light pollution in a greenhouse with artificial lighting and maintain a "dark sky" the greenhouse should be outfitted with a light deprivation system.

Can I grow year round in New Mexico?

Cultivating adult use products in New Mexico year round can be easily achieved in a greenhouse. All you'll need a supplemental lighting for the vegetative growth phase. Aside from lighting concerns, you'll need to run large greenhouse heaters. A 30'x100' greenhouse should put out at least 400,000 btus. Hortitech's internal roll to peak light deprivation greenhouse is the most insulated greenhouse on the market and can offset heating bills, giving the cultivator a leg up on its peers.

Fighting mold and mildew in your greenhouses

Mold and mildew risk will be low in New Mexico given the arid climate. Proper exhausting of air at night can help keep the greenhouses dry without the use of dehumidifiers. Also, leveling out the temperature swings between day and night with the use of heating units will help eliminate condensation.

Do I need an evaporative cooling system aka wet wall in New Mexico?

Yes, in fact New Mexico's desert climate with high heat and low humidity is the base case scenario for using a wet wall. The cooing pads can provide up to 20 degrees of cooling on the hottest days, conditioning the air, and providing a great growing environment.

Internal roll-to-peak light deprivation has many advantages over traditional internal curtain and gutter connect operations

Hyper controlled environments
Each greenhouse can be set up to revolve through each stage of plant growth resulting in ideal growing conditions

Rapid speed to market
Option of growing your operation organically with smaller initial investment

Modular scalability
Highly scalable add structures in phases

Improved risk mitigation
Refine proof of concept at smaller scale and expand with confidence

Fewer parts to maintain (less moving parts)
Fewer parts are easier to maintain, simpler to construct, and have fewer (minimal) points of failure

Lower startup & recurring costs
Significantly more economical per square foot, even at scale, fewer initial costs

Fast construction
Build 3 structures in less than a month (9,000 sq/f total)

Resilience to total crop failure
Isolated production areas protect crops from the spread of pathogens & pests

Rapid tax depreciation
Non-permanent structures are considered personal property and have strategic tax advantages

Simpler land requirements
Multiple isolated greenhouses don't require one continuous flat plane
