Product Description

Twinwall Polycarbonate panels have been designed for greenhouse, industrial, commercial, architectural, residential and other applications where a rigid, insulated glazing is required.

Macrolux offers a 15 year limited warranty against loss of light transmission according to ASTM D-1003 and against yellowing according to ASTM D-1925

Anti condensate coatings inhibit the formation of condensation into droplets by reducing surface tension making the condensation run off the sheets into the gutter or drain.

  • Lightweight
  • Excellent light transmission
  • Long life UV protection
  • Damage and impact resistance
  • Self-extinguishing
  • Thermal insulation
  • Withstands extreme temperatures
  • Excellent appearance

Structural Considerations

Wind and snow loads must be absorbed by a suitable supporting structure. Maximum deflection should not exceed 5% of the shorter panel dimension.

Fire Ratings
Standard Classification
ASTM E84 Class A (NFPA / UBC)
ASTM D635 Class CC1
ASTM D2843 Low Smoke Density
ASTM D1929 Self-ignition temp > 650°F
Frame clearance must account for thermal expansion. Coefficient: 3.6 × 10⁻⁵ in/ft°F — polycarbonate expands more than glass, steel, or aluminum.
Handling & Installation
⚠ Remove UV-protective masking film only immediately after installation — not before, and never after prolonged sun exposure.
Installation
  • Orient cells vertically — prevents condensation buildup
  • Use aluminum or PC profiles to attach — no direct drilling
  • Never use PVC profiles with polycarbonate
  • Seal all cut edges with aluminum tape immediately
Storage & Cutting
  • Store sheets horizontally — never lean against wall
  • Do not walk on panels — use wood plank platforms
  • Cut with table saw, fixed-knife cutter, or circular saw
Cleaning & Maintenance
✓ Recommended
  • Non-abrasive, solvent-free neutral soap + water
  • Pressure washer rinse
  • Soft cloth or sponge for remaining dirt
✗ Never Use
  • Gasoline, benzene, or acetone
  • Abrasive cleaners or powders
  • Stiff-bristle brushes or scrubbing pads
⚠ Solvents and abrasives permanently damage the UV coating and will void the warranty.
Bonding & Adhesives
Use a silicone-based sealant — Dow Corning 791 or equivalent is recommended. Avoid any adhesive containing solvents that can degrade polycarbonate.
✓ Compatible
  • Neutral-cure silicone (preferred)
  • Dow Corning 791 or equivalent
  • Structural silicone — PC-rated
✗ Avoid
  • Acetoxy-cure silicones
  • Solvent-based adhesives or caulks
  • Polyurethane without PC rating
